10 Free Blogging Tools That Every New Blogger Needs For Success

When I started my first blog, I looked everywhere for free blogging tools. I was looking for something affordable because… let’s face it, your budget is pretty small when you’re just starting out.

Money can be tight, but that doesn’t mean that there aren’t great tools out there for bloggers that are affordable and even free. In an effort to save you time (doing a ton of research) and money, I’ve put together this list of free blogging tools for the new blogger.

All of these tools are ones that I have used personally, and I stand behind!

Canva is the perfect tool to create all your pin images, opt-in freebies, products, and other social media graphics for your blog.

For starting out, I recommend sticking with Canva Free version, but whenever you are ready, the pro version is awesome.

Grammarly is a free extension for Google Chrome that automatically checks for spelling and grammar mistakes. It’s super helpful for whenever you’re trying to whip out a quick post.

Google Sheets/Docs

Google Sheets and Google Docs are completely free! If you have a google account, and you’re not utilizing these free apps, you need to start. Google Docs is perfect for writing up blog posts and creating/sharing documents

Google Sheets is great for creating a book-keeping spreadsheet to keep track of your blog expenses and income.

This is how I keep track of all my blogging expenses and income. It’s simple and straight forward!

Mailerlite for Email Marketing

I’ve been using Mailerlite for a while now. Their free plan includes up to 1000 unique subscribers and unlimited emails each month. After you reach the subscriber limit for the free plan, the prices are still some of the best out there for email marketing.

For example, a plan in the range of 5K-10K subscribers is $50 per month. Pretty good prices in my opinion. It’s $79 for 3K-5K subscribers with ConvertKit.

Mailerlite is the only email company I have found that resembles ConvertKit, but at a much lower price.

I’ve also found that Mailerlite is much more user-friendly than Mailchimp.

Trello for Planning

I use Trello for planning. I used to be a huge paper planner gal. But, I switched over to Trello recently, and I love it.

Trello is like having a digital post-it note app. It’s set up to be very visual (which I love). You can drag and drop your tasks, and move them between boards.

Download the Trello app to your phone, so you can quickly check your to-do list, and add any blog post ideas that pop into your mind.

I’ve even started using Trello to organize all my other non-business tasks as well.

Another app that bloggers use is Asana. I just couldn’t get into Asana as much as Trello. But, to each their own.

Unsplash or Pexels for Free Stock Images

Unsplash and Pexels have some great free stock images. They were always two of my favorite go-to’s for images. Now that I use Canva Pro, I usually use the images from there.

You can also get some great free stock images on Haute Stock if you sign up for the email list. They are gorgeous images, and more likely to get you noticed on Pinterest!

Quick Tip: If you have a good camera, think about taking your own pictures for your blog images. It will give you an edge!

Ubersuggest for Keyword Research

Ubersuggest is Neil Patel’s free Keyword Tool. I literally use this every day. It’s the most straight forward keyword tool I have ever used. Just plug in your keyword, and it will give you keyword suggestions, let you know how many people are searching for your keyword, and it will also give you a list of content ideas.

Title Generator to Increase Click-Throughs

A good blog title can make or break your content! It needs to be SEO optimized and eye-catching for those click-throughs.

This is my favorite blog title generator. You can insert your keyword, and it will give you a list of 700 ideas! Titles for days!

Portent Title Generator is another fun option, but their titles are repetitive after a while.
